This fee calculator will help you determine the approximate cost to reclaim a dog or cat that is being held at the City's animal shelter. This includes dogs that have been picked up by an Animal Health and Public Safety Division officer. It also includes cats that have been picked up by officers responding to bite reports. Your actual fee may vary slightly.

Do you live in unincorporated Jackson County or in Buckner, Greenwood, Lone Jack, Sugar Creek, Levasy, Sibley or Unity Village?

Did emergency personnel (police officers, firefighters or ambulance crews) order your pet to be picked up?
Yes      No
Depending on the status of these items and where you live, you may owe additional fees. If your pet hasn't been vaccinated for rabies or licensed within the past 12 months, you may be required to pay additional fees. If you are unable to present a rabies certificate from you veterinarian, center employees will call your veterinarian. Center employees can verify if a license is current for a Kansas City, Mo., resident.
